REFLECT

“Shafts of light that dance and bounce off moving water”

The installation

An atmospheric space where beams of light reveal the undisturbed surface of a giant tank of water.

As viewers touch the water it projects moving light across the space, synchronised with an ambient soundtrack.

The inspiration

This work began as an exploration of light artists working in Los Angeles in the 1950s. Following their approach, I began to experiment with light then expanded this into using water and finally introducing sound. Early experiments were with a washing-up bowl and projector.
